Natalie'S story To Pryceless
What can I say? It all started in 2009 when, like many others, I was laid off and forced to confront many realities and make some very important decisions. In the beginning I didn't think I would have any trouble finding a job. I am young, full of energy and definitely a "go-getter". After weeks of submitting resumes online to faceless HR Departments (with no replies)...it hit me! I am unemployed. Now what am I going to do?
I did what any depressed, jobless individual would do... I bought a box of Hostess Devil Dogs (I don't like Twinkies) and dragged my mattress in the living room and watched hours of Charmed followed by Maury. For the whole month of June this was my routine with several of naps in between. However, nagging in the back of my mind I knew I had to make a big change. I needed something life-altering and that usually means an uncomfortable, scary change. So, after I finished my third pack of double-stuffed Oreos (I like to diversify my snacks. Did you know the cream in Oreos are vegan?) I decided to start look for opportunities to build my “wealth”.
I think it is important to know that from the tender age of seventeen, I knew there were people making $10,000 or more a month. This knowledge and understanding of wealth came from a letter in the mail that read “Stuff 10,000 envelopes and make $10,000 weekly”. You are probably thinking, "you silly-silly girl" but that moment changed my perspective on money and though we all know “envelope stuffing” is not a business, the idea that someone could potentially earn $10,000 a month was the moment I knew I wanted to be an Entrepreneur. I didn't know what I wanted to do at the time, but I wanted to be my own boss and deep down knew I was going to make it happen. Fast forward to 10 years later and the universe provided the window of opportunity called “2008 Recession” , a year later PRYCELESS was created and a journey of a budding entrepreneur began and blossomed.
